Superblog Updates

I don’t know if even the most loyal readers of the old Superblog are aware, but we recently passed the fifty post mark on this little labor of love.  And by “we,” I course mean “I.”  So I’d like to be a self-indulgent asshole for a moment and congratulate myself on a job well-done.

I have a lot of stuff to talk about with regard to the site, so I figured I’d just combine it all into one big site update.

First thing’s first:  I made an off-hand reference in a recent post to the fix being in on the 2006 NBA finals, and Tim Donaghy having something to do with it.  Unfortunately, Donaghy himself e-mailed me* to let me know he didn’t ref any of the games in the 2006 Finals, so I apologize for the error.  Even though he said no retraction was necessary, I don’t mean to imply that someone was involved in impropriety when they in fact weren’t, so Tim, I sincerely apologize for my mistake.  Thus it was a different ref who was on the take that fixed the 2006 Finals.  I apologize for the confusion.

Also, I’d like to apologize to those of you that have been e-mailing me at the e-mail address at the bottom of these posts—I have had the account set up, and thought that I had it set to forward to my main gmail address, thinking that the lack of e-mails I saw was just due to the relative obscurity of this blog.  It turns out that I had “linked” the accounts, but never set up e-mail forwarding.  Combined with the limited internet access on my voyage to Australia, some of you went months without a reply.  I don’t want to be one of those “holier-than-thou” assholes who doesn’t answer his e-mails, so I apologize for getting so behind.  The problem is now fixed, so I promise to get back to future well-wishers, “fuck you”-ers, and spammers in a more timely manner in the future.

On a related note, I’d like to ease into a five-days-per-week posting schedule, and one idea that I’ve had for a while is to start a mailbag of some sort, which would run on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.  I don’t know if it would help to narrow things down to a particular topic, but I’m happy to answer any-and-all questions that come at me via e-mail, so we’ll see if a common theme emerges and go from there.  I’d like to fire this up by next week if possible, so send me your inquiries at  I’m happy to keep all questions as anonymous as you want me to—anonymity will be presumed unless stated otherwise.

Additionally, I’m thinking of doing some “weekend links”-type stuff, so if you have any tips on sites to visit or cool articles that you think people would enjoy, feel free to send those to, too.  Otherwise, I’ll just pick from some of my favorite blogs and go from there, but especially for you aspiring bloggers out there, I’m not beneath some “I scratch your back, and you scratch mine” link-whoring.

Finally, I want to say a sincere “thank you” to those of you that have been following me thus far on my journey.  I feel like I’ve really come a long way in a few short months, and a lot of that personal growth has been achieved by putting myself out there, sometimes in a very personal manner, on this very site.  I appreciate those of you that come back to read, even if it’s only once in a while, as it makes me feel a little less like I’m screaming into a pillow (…err…which I definitely DON’T do…), and more like I’m actually making people think about the direction their lives are taking, or at least asking themselves some harder questions.  My only question to you is this: what articles seem to be working?  Which ones could you not give less of a shit about?  If you could leave something in the comments, or e-mail me with what you think the strengths and weaknesses of the site are, I’d be better able to cut down on the lesser articles and really bring my “A” game to the table each week.  Should I write the funny, pop-culturish stuff?  More concrete “call-to-action”-type pieces?  More of the inspirational looks at great people?  Or even something like “BE FUNNIER, ASSHOLE!!!” would be helpful in ensuring that I continue to improve the quality of my writing, and help you directly with the problems you face.

Thanks again, everyone!  And don’t forget to leave comments on what you want to see, and e-mail me with any links or questions for the mailbag.

*--Yes, I am serious.  Happy to forward the e-mail on to you to prove it.
